Georgetta (Fletcher) May

Georgetta (Fletcher) May, age 91, departed this life on Sunday, May 31st, 2026, at Jean Waddle Care Center.

She was born September 1st, 1934, in Brodhead, Ky., the daughter of the late Cecil Jack and Virginia (Newland) Fletcher. She was married to Robert E. May for over fifty years until his passing on April 12, 2026.  Georgetta was of the Baptist faith and attended Brodhead Baptist Church. She was Secretary for the Garrard Co. and Stanford Bluegrass Stockyards for forty-five years. She enjoyed Bowling, Gardening, Cooking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family (especially grandchildren).

Those left to celebrate her life are her children; Jenny Wooten, of Somerset, Ky;  Tommy Merriman (Pam) of Columbus, OH, Jamie Suter (Mark), of Stanford, Ky; stepdaughter; Shellie Hall (Matt), stepson; Todd May (Susan);  grandchildren- Kristi Fraley, Ashley Bussell, Jason Merriman, Brandon Merriman (Krista), Kandis Murray, Kacy Thompson (Bria); great grandchildren; Colton (Shelby), Carson, Camdon Fraley, Rylie Bradley (Jacob), Jordyn & Kynlie McGuire, Summer Bryant, Korbyn & Kreed Murray, Kennedy, Layla, Isaiah, Makena, Emery, Bentley, Ethan, Bella, Mallory Merriman, and Ember Thompson;  two great great  grandchildren, coming soon- Cody and Tatum.

Besides her parents Georgetta was preceded in death by her husband; Robert E. May, her stepson; Robert May (Little Bob), her great grandchild; Jansin Murray, and son-in-law Byron Wooten.

Visitation for Georgetta will be on Friday, June 5th, 2026, from 1-3pm at Owens Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 3pm with great-grandson Camdon Fraley officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.

Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as casket bearers; Jason and Brandon Merriman, Kacy Thompson, Colton, Carson, and Camdon Fraley.
