Gernice Chrystal (Neal) Sargent

Mrs. Gernice Chrystal (Neal) Sargent, age 84, of Brodhead, KY, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.

Gernice was born March 4, 1937, in Connersville, Indiana, a daughter of the late Melvin Alfred Neal, and Aretta Belle Hughes. She was a long time and beloved member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses; enjoyed collecting glassware and costume jewelry, and quilting. On December 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert Phillips Sargent, and they enjoyed 64 years together, prior to his passing on March 29, 2018.

Those left to celebrate her life are her three children: Marcia Joy Book and husband Jeffery of East Bernstadt, KY, Denise Gay Garza of Richmond, KY, and Dee Ann Miller and husband James of San Antonio, TX; her grandchildren: Shannon Book, Nikita Book, Shellie Roberts, Stephanie Garza, and Austin Miller; six great-grandchildren; a sister: Susie Todd and husband Bill of Connersville, IN; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry Neal and Kenneth Neal; and a sister: Roberta Caldwell.

Services for Mrs. Gernice Chrystal (Neal) Sargent will be held at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Wednesday, November 3, 2021, beginning with the visitation at 11am until the time of the funeral at 1pm. Burial will follow in the Saylor Cemetery.
