Harold Brown

Harold Brown went to his heavenly home on Friday, May 2, 2025.    He was born May 9, 1935, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, son of Daniel Logan Brown and Dovia Hayes Brown.

He was preceded in death by the “love of his life”, Roberta Rose Robbins Brown, his eldest daughter, Wanda Braley, son-in-law, James Chism, three brothers, Alonzo Brown, Hubert Brown, and infant, Dallous Brown, three sisters, Maggie Elizabeth Cable (Donald), Luvenia Wilson (Felix Jr.), and Lydia Alice Cable (Keith),

Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by four daughters, Rita Sampson (Mark), Marcia Chism (James), Katherine Hysinger (Rick) and Teresa Brown (J. Logan Seaton), son-in-law, Hershel Braley, grandchildren: Kayce Sampson Hayes (Matthew), Ashley Braley Rinker (Jeremiah), Stephenie Sampson Wellman (Chad), Amanda Chism Briggs (A.J.), Hannah Chism, Richard Hysinger (Tiffany), Katelyn Blair (Matt Tovar), and Jacob Blair, great-grandchildren: Lilyann Storm-Hayes, Logan Rinker, Lucas Hayes, Jon Thomas Rinker, Madison Hysinger, Whitney Wellman, Andrew Wellman, Kaydence Stewart, Raelynn Hysinger, Hunter Hysinger, and Amelia Tovar. He is also survived by one brother, Vanous Brown, and several nieces and nephews.

Harold graduated from Brodhead High School, a member of the class of 1953. He married Roberta Rose Robbins, January 28, 1956.

In his younger days, Harold worked for several years for Lincoln Lumber Company in Stanford, Kentucky doing construction and carpentry work. He then went to work at Eastern Kentucky University where he spent 27 years. He was employed in the maintenance department where he was the supervisor of the paint shop. After he retired, he dedicated his life to taking care of his wife, Roberta, following a serious illness, part-time farming, and helping take care of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved farm work, carpentry work, “piddling”, reading, and spending time with his family. Harold was a faithful Christian and a member, Sunday School teacher, and deacon of Ottawa Baptist Church.

Harold will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. 

Visitation for Mr. Harold Brown will be Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.  Funerals services will be conducted Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 3PM at Ottawa Baptist Church with Pastor John McPheron officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ottawa Cemetery.
