Mr. Hollis Edward Marcum, age 76, husband of Linda, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his residence.
Hollis was born on November 19, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, a son of the late Paul Lawrence Marcum and Geneva Mae McKinney. He and Linda Brown were united in Holy Matrimony on May 25, 1967. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam era, as a sergeant in the US Army. He retired from working many years as a diesel mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a devoted member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Somerset, KY. In his free time, Hollis enjoyed mushroom and ginseng hunting; gardening; and mowing and weed eating.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 54 years, Linda Brown Marcum, of Mt. Vernon, KY; Holly Lynn Moore & Bobby of Somerset, KY, Laurie Cole of Brodhead, KY, and Paula Amyx & James of Mt. Vernon, KY; five grandchildren: Chanler Cole, Kyra Ramsey, Marley Ramsey, Trey Cole, and Bentley Moore; a sister: Glenda Mae Anderson of Somerset, KY; as well as a host of family, friends, and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Denver Ray Marcum.
Services for Mr. Hollis Edward Marcum will be held at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, beginning with the visitation at 12pm, followed by the funeral service at 2pm with Bro. Zandel Hasty officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers are James Amyx, Bobby Moore, Brian Cole, Levi Gentry, Chanler Cole, and Michael Brown. Honorary casket bearers are Jerry Waters and William Brown.
