Irene (Graves) McFerron

Irene McFerron, age 89 of Brodhead, departed this life on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Rockcastle Hospital.

She was born on September 22, 1935, in Sand Springs, Ky., the daughter of the late Robert and Lula McLemore Graves.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was a member of the First Church of Jesus Christ Church.   She found great joy in fishing, turkey, deer, and squirrel hunting and spending time with family.      

On July 30, 1953, she was united in marriage to Fred McFerron, and they enjoyed almost 66 years together prior to his passing July 15, 2019; and from that union came three children: Kathy Faye, Michael Lynn and Robby Shannon.

Those left to celebrate her life are her children: Kathy Faye Payne of Mt. Vernon, Ky; Michael Lynn McFerron (Shana) of Copper Creek, Ky.; and Robby Shannon McFerron (Vickie) of Eubank, Ky.  Her grandchildren: Jimmy Payne, Makayla Bullock (Dustin), Jacob McFerron (Madison) and Azlynn McFerron, and Brandy Robinson (Billy). Nine great grandchildren.  Her brothers: Berl Graves (Karen) of Reading, Ohio; and Shelby Graves of Sand Springs, Ky. As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents, and her husband, Fred she was preceded in death by brothers: George, Roy, Charles, Jack, Donald and Billy Graves.
