Mr. Dewey Manning “Jack” Lake, age 90 of Brodhead, departed this life on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ky. Jack was born on January 18th, 1936 in Rockcastle County, a son of the late Luther and Elizabeth Brock Lake. He had been a commercial truck driver who found great joy in Elk hunting, traveling and just enjoyed mother nature. Jack was a member of Brodhead Christian Church, the N.R.A., as well as being a 32nd degree Mason and Grand Master of the Dave Jackson Masonic Lodge A&FM #566 in Brodhead. He became a Kentucky Colonel in 1992.
Those left to celebrate his life are his children: Kathy Lynn (Charles) Littrell of Caledonia, Wisconsin; Terry M. Lake of Norwood, Ohio and his step daughter: Pam Johnson of Dayton, Ohio. His grandson: T.J. The mother of his children: Glynn Rose Woodall Lake. As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends, neighbors; numerous great and great great nieces/nephews and cousins. A special nephew, Shannon Bishop and wife Angie.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Vernetta Lake; brothers: Warren G. Lake, George E. Lake, Ben Edward Lake; sisters: Infant Geneive Lake, Juanita Linville, Barbara Bishop and Patricia Whirls, and several nephews; special niece, Deborah Bishop Cummins.
Visitation for Jack will be Tuesday , July 28, 2026 from 5-8pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, with Mason Rites by F&AM Lodge 617 at 7PM. Funerals services will be conducted Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 2PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Luther Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Ky.
Contributions in Jacks memory may be made to the Shriners Children Hospital.
