Mr. James Everett “Bear” Bradley, age 78, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
James was born October 28, 1942 in Spiro, KY to the late Walter and Delia (Noe) Bradley. He graduated from Brodhead High School, served in the United States Army, worked at Bluegrass Army Depot, and retired as a Surface Mine Engineer for the State of Kentucky. He was of the Church of Christ faith, enjoyed farming, and was an avid sports fan, especially the UK Wildcats.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife: Deborah Combs Bradley; children: James Allen Bradley of Mt. Vernon, KY, Stephanie Burkette of Lebanon, OH; stepson: Matthew Combs and wife Brittany of Somerset, KY; two grandchildren: Austin Burkette and Aiden Burkette of Painstville, KY; one sister: Nancy Brinegar and husband Joe of Somerset, KY; one half-sister: Louise Winkler; one stepbrother: James W. Rowe; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Kenneth Bradley; and one sister: Judy Van Zant.
Visitation for James “Bear” Bradley will be Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 11am until time for the service at 1pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Danny McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Church of Christ Cemetery. Casket bearers are Howard, Johnny Boone, and Tony Saylor, Clayton, Andrew, and Aaron Cash. Honorary casket bearers are Albert York, Joe Brinegar, Ronnie Hayes, Doug Prewitt, Steve Albright, Jerry Hamm, Jeff Taylor, Delmus Bullock, and BJ Noe.
