James "Jimmy" King

Mr. James Benton King, age 74, of Mt Vernon, Ky, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY.  He was born on April 18th, 1950, a son of the late Burgess and Nellie Jones King.

James was united in marriage to Bessie Gentry King on March 6th, 1976, and from that union came two children, Curtis and James. He was of the Baptist faith. James enjoyed farming, gardening, playing guitar, and his animals, especially “Muscroe”.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife; Bessie Gentry King, his children; Curtis King of Mt Vernon, “JB” King (Janie) of Mt Vernon, his grandchildren; Damien King, James “Bryan” King (Kayla), Alexis King, Zachary “Blake” King (Courtney), Mikie King, his great grandchildren; Brylee, Amari, James, and Jason, his brothers; Ray and Randall King, his sisters; Carol Russell, Vicki Lavely as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Joseph and Jeffrey King, his sisters, Easter, Geraldine, Darlene and Nora.

Visitation for James will be on Friday, February 14th, from 12- 2pm at Owens Chapel. Funeral service at 2pm with Bro. Jason Medley officiating. Burial will follow in Sandhill Cemetery.
