James "Rooster" Mason

James “Rooster” Mason, age 70, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Rockcastle Health and Rehab.

James was born on June 21, 1952, in Livingston, KY, a son of the late Jesse Lee and Othia Mae (McClure) Mason. He was united in holy matrimony to Laura Grace Delph on February 24, 1970, and from that union came two children: Jimmy and Regina. He was of the Baptist faith, and liked riding and tending to horses and going fishing. He spent his free time sitting on his front porch talking to his dog, Toby.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 52 years: Laura Grace (Delph) Mason; two children: Jimmy Mason & Connie of Sand Springs, KY, and Regina “Sis” Hayes & James Robinson of Mt. Vernon, KY; three grandchildren: Jesse Hayes & Tiffany, Devon Hayes, and Hannah Denny; four brothers: Kenneth Mason of Sand Springs, KY, Bobby Mason & Peggy of Pulaski County, KY, Robin Mason of Livingston, KY, and Freddie Mason of Livingston, KY; three sisters: Shirley Goforth of Russell Springs, KY, Brenda Hatton & Freddie of Red Hill, KY, and Virginia Carroll & Barry of Quail, KY; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides his parent, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Beverley Sue (Mason) Shaw and Sharon Kay (Mason) Foister.

Visitation for James “Rooster” Mason will be held at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals on Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 6 to 9pm, and on Monday, September 12, 2022, from 9am to 2pm.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 2pm with James Adkins and Zandell Hasty officiating. Burial will follow in the Sowder Cemetery.
