Mr. Jan Ivan Stevens age 88 of Wildie, KY passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at University of Kentucky Hospital as the result of a tragic accident.
Jan was born August 11, 1934, in Brodhead, KY to the late Colson and Ann (Emerick) Stevens. He was a member of the Wildie Christian Church and Brodhead Masonic Lodge 566. He served in the United States Army, was a Magistrate for District 4, and was Postmaster and Owner/Operator of Wildie General Store for 40+ years. He married June Hiatt on November 17, 1956, and from that union came three children: Jan Eyvan, Jill, and Jeff. Jan enjoyed farming, his grandkids, and talking to people – he never met a stranger.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 66 years: June Stevens; three children: Jan Eyvan Stevens and wife Tammy, Jill Ponder, and Jeff Stevens, all of Wildie, KY; seven grandchildren: Jay Stevens, Shaunna Saylor, Jerred Stevens, Katie Hensley, Hannah Ponder, Lane Ponder, and Cass Ponder; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Don Stevens and wife Teet of Maretburg, KY, Rex Stevens of Somerset, KY; four sisters: Virginia Broaddus of Brodhead, KY, Iris Young and husband Joe of Mt. Vernon, KY, Pat Blair and husband Herman of Lexington, KY, and Sunny Rowe of Cincinnati, OH.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Kathleen Mendez, JoAnne Reusch, Danny Stevens, and Juanita Cloud.
Services for Jan will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Wildie Christian Church with visitation beginning at 12pm until time for the memorial service at 2pm. A fellowship meal will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital in Lexington or the Wildie Christian Church.
