Janie Parsons, age 81, of Richmond, Ky, passed away Thursday December 19th, 2024, at her residence.
Janie was born on March 2nd, 1943, in Bristol TN, a daughter to the late Major and Nellie Cunnigham. She was a small business owner of multiple businesses throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed time with her family but especially with her grandchildren. She loved to collect recipes and even cooked for the Kenwood House Nursing Home for years. Everyone who had the privilege to know Janie knew from experience her lust for life and outgoing personality. She was married to the love of her life on October 6th, 1962, to Raleigh C. Parsons. They were together a total of 65 years and from their loving relationship came two beautiful children, Patricia and Kevin.
Those left to celebrate her life are her husband; Raleigh C. Parsons, her children; Patricia Sword (Paul)and Kevin Parsons (Angela). Her grandchildren: Lauren Sword (Matthew Robichaud), Kyle Sword (Mercedez), Jesse Parsons (Emma Bowen). Her great grandchildren; Kolton and Kallie Sword, One brother; Claude Cunningham (Peggy). Janie had two lifelong friends who were by her side for over 40 years, she cherished their support, laughter and stories more than they could ever know, Karen Borders and Lydia Delaney. The family would also like to thank the following for their love and care during the most difficult times of Janie’s life, Glenda Himes, Kim Rice, Bonnie Hopkins, Jeanette Devine and Bluegrass Care Navigators.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Mary Hamilton (Bill), and Peggy Cunningham, one brother: Jimmy Cunningham.
Visitation for Janie will be Monday, December 23rd, from12pm-1PM at the Marvin E. Owens chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1pm with Bro. John McPheron officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
