Jenny Bray, age 75 of Mt. Vernon, KY passed away Thursday July 17, 2025 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital after being diagnosed with cancer on Saturday July 12th.  She was born July 1, 1950.  She was the youngest of nine children of Goldie and Martha Barnett.  She married Richard Bray on September 9, 1976, and from that union they had two children, Heather Bray McGuire (Eric) and John Bray (Sandra).  In addition to her husband, children and their spouses, she is survived by two grandsons Reece Bray McGuire and Connor B McGuire, two step-granddaughters Carleigh and Kara Philbeck in addition to siblings Bill Barnett (Janet), Doris Blevins (Paul), Monroe “Shot” Barnett (Ella), Carol Bowman Eckert (Ken), brother-in-law Ronnie Bray (Rose), sister-in-law Sharon Bray and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her mother and father in addition to her brothers Calvin Barnett, Alvin Barnett, Doug Barnett, her sister Mary Lou Vandgrift, brothers-in-law Gene Vandgrift, Larry Bowman, Roger Bray, sister-in-law Nina McClure Barnett, nephews Monroe Barnett Jr, and Gary Seymour Barnett,  nieces Frances Price and Debbie Martin.

Jenny graduated from Mt Vernon High School in 1968.  She graduated from Sue Bennett Jr College (1970) and Eastern KY University (1972) with an Elementary Education degree.  During her college years she attained a summer job working at the Bank of Mt. Vernon which began her 40+ year career in banking having worked in most every area of the daily operations of banking.  She retired from Citizens Bank as loan officer and branch manager and had worked for Community Trust Bank.  After retirement she went back to Citizens Bank working part time for several years.

Jenny was a member of First Baptist Church Mt Vernon and had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior!!!

After retirement Rich (as she most of the time called him) got her going to the golf course with him and after a couple years she thoroughly enjoyed going there most every evening with him and meeting and talking with a lot of the folks both young and old.  She loved all her family through and through with passion both young and old also. Other than her family she loved going to the cabin (Ravenwood Ridge).

Visitation services will be Saturday July 19th from 6–8pm at the Marvin E Owens Home for Funerals, 148 West Main Street, Brodhead, KY 40409.

Funeral services will be Sunday July 20th at 2pm at the Owens funeral home with Brothers Ronny Lee McClure and Dakota Hasty conducting the services.

Casket bearers:  Reece, Connor, Eric and Bro Lonnie McGuire, David, JC, Lee and Larry Barnett and David Smith

Interment will be in the Maretburg Cemetery located on the Maretburg Cemetery Road, Mt. Vernon, KY.
