Mr. James Roscoe “Jimmy” Fletcher, age 87 of Mt. Vernon, Ky. departed this life Tuesday July 28, 2026 at Baptist Health in Richmond, Ky. He was born on March 11, 1939 in Sand Springs, Ky. a son of the late Robert and Gracie McClure Fletcher. Jimmy was a farmer who enjoyed driving his tractor and working the land. He was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church.
Those left to mourn his passing is his wife, Margie Harris of Mt.Vernon; his daughter: Connie Jo Ann Fletcher Prewitt of Mt. Vernon; step children: Tammy Weaver (Bobby) of Mt. Vernon; and Marty Harris of Mt. Vernon; his grandchildren: Lestlie Leary; James-Michael Lear; Beulah-Jean Lear; Glennda-Jo Lear; Lukas Lear; Jetta Lear; and his step-grandchildren: Joshua Weaver, Stephen Harris and Jamie Stanley. Sixteen Great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren. Eight great great grandchildren. His sister Clarice Taulbee (Norman) of Bowling Green, Ky; as well as as host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Robert Fletcher, Jr., Lovell “Dick” Fletcher; Bill Fletcher; Dewey Fletcher and Bee Fletcher; his sisters: Maudie Evans, Susie Kinser, and Vernie Cromer. His grandson: John Lear; and great grandson: Landon Higgins. His first wife, Retha Jean Bullock Fletcher.
Visitation for Jimmy will be at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 11Am-2PM . Funeral will follow at 2PM with Bro. Danzel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Bullock Cemetery.
