OBITUARY NOTICE:

Joel E. Kirby, age 67, of Mt Vernon, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2025, after a short illness as a resident of Liberty Nursing Facility in Casey County KY. He was born on March 7th, 1958, in Mt Vernon, KY, at Rockcastle County Hospital. He was a son to the late Harold and Flora Mullins Kirby.

Joel worked all his life, he was never without a job. He ran Super Test gas station in Mt Vernon for many years and then went to Frankfort Kentucky and worked for the State of Kentucky until he retired. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and a Certified Electrician. Joel enjoyed music, playing in several bands during his lifetime.

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Northern (Jonathan) of Mt Vernon, two grandchildren; Jaiden Barnes and Brannon Northern, one brother: George Timothy Kirby of Mt Vernon, one sister: Patricia Philbeck of Mt Vernon, one niece: Melissa Brock and one nephew: Shawn Kirby, three great nieces, and one great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Harold and Flora (Mullins) Kirby, maternal grandparents; George Mullins and Dollie (Pittman) Mullins and his paternal grandparents; Charlie (Sport) Kirby and Rachel (Jones) Kirby.

 The date and time for a graveside service is yet to be determined.
