John Andrew Coffey

OBITUARY NOTICE:

John Andrew Coffey, Jr., age 69 of Brodhead, Ky., departed this life on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Baptist Health in Lexington,Ky.

He was born on March 29, 1954 in Sand Gap, Ky., a son of the late John Andrew and Ellen Powell Coffey.  He had previously worked as  a Custodian at Eastern Kentucky University. John was of the Baptist faith. He found great joy in fishing, hunting and his grandkids.  On March 6, 2014 he was united in marriage to Alice Darlene York, and they enjoyed nine years together.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Alice Darlene Coffey of Brodhead, Ky;  His step- children: Elizabeth Burdine of Berea, Ky; William Burdine and Jessica of Houstonville, Ky.  His grandchildren: Kathyln, Erica, Sierra, Zackery, Ben and Austin. His sister: Helen Cotter and Ray of Fla.; and  Eilene Coffey of Preacherville, Ky;  as well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brother- Nicky Coffey and sister-Roslie Hurst.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 11am till funeral time at 1pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Randy Cromer officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.
