Mr. John Carl Haarmann, US Army Veteran, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2020 at the Madison Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond, KY.
He was born on August 15, 1936 in Yosemite, KY to the late George H. and Zella (Hogue) Haarmann. He married Jewel (DeBord) Haarmann on June 17, 1961. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2019 after 58 years of marriage. He served his country in the United States Army from 1959-1962. He was a member of the Green River Christian Church. He began working at the age of 16 in the sawmills and retired from Dresser Industries in Berea, KY, after 35 years of service. The things that brought him the most joy were his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, farming, campfires, cookouts, horses, antique tractor shows and westerns. He was a loyal friend.
Those left to celebrate his life are his two daughters: Donna Haarman of Brodhead, KY, Vickie Haarman of Brodhead KY; one daughter-in-law: Ruby Haarman of Brodhead, KY; three grandchildren: Stephanie (Travis) Richardson, Natalie (Joe) Carter, Casey Haarman; three great-grandchildren: Parker Richardson, Emma Richardson, John Michael Carter; and one sister: Hazel Weddle of Liberty, KY.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Mike Haarman; and one brother: George Haarman.
Visitation for John Haarman will be Wednesday, June 10, 2020 from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 1pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Jack Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at the Piney Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers are Casey Haarman, Travis Richardson, Joe Carter, Donnie Wallin, Jimmy Wallin, and Jerry Ramey. Honorary casket bearers are Leonard Sparks and Lawson Whitt.
