Katrina Graves Obituary

Today we come together to celebrate the life of Katrina (Stewart) Graves age 58. Katrina was born on October 15, 1966, in Barbourville KY, the second child of the late Essellen (Roark) Stewart (10/25/07) and the late Lee Stewart (1/8/71) the baby sister of Frank Stewart of Brodhead Ky.

In 1976 in the third grade, she met and became friends with Rita Lewis who would later become her beloved sister-in-law. Around 1979 she met and became friends with her sister by heart Sandra (Graves) Burke.

After trying for several years, she gave birth to the love of her life Clinton Nathaniel (Nathan) Graves. From the very beginning she loved her son more than life itself. She would always support him in every endeavor that he undertook. He was her "Bucky".

She was blessed once again in 2023 when Nathan was united in marriage to Nikki (England) Graves. Katrina would always tell everyone my son could not have picked a better wife and daughter-in-law followed by: "It pleases me to see them together because she loves him so good." Katrina loved them both so deeply. Then in 2025 she was blessed with the birth of a beautiful, healthy granddaughter, Harper Louise Graves quickly getting the moniker "my baby". Harper is the second love of her life, for the first time Nathan her "Bucky" had competition for number 1. But her "Bucky" is always the "love you more than life".

She retired from Toyota manufacturing in 2019 after 27 years of service. She enjoyed container gardening and would always say it pleases me to see the vegetables and flowers growing. She  enjoyed crocheting and was a very prolific craftsman making gifts for friends, neighbors, and family.  Her favorite was afghans, although she also produced baby blankets and doilies.  All who knew her knew that if they wanted anything crafted from yarn all they had to do was send her a picture and she would figure out how to do it.  She had several handmade wooden crocheting hooks, and she would say "the sound of the yarn sliding off the hook is so relaxing". She was also a wonderful cook and loved to cook for anyone that would visit. Trina, as she preferred to be called, touched the lives of so many with her love, support, and positive attitude. No matter when you called or how tired or sick she was when you ask her how, are you doing it was always "I'm hanging' in there!" She was always so willing to be there morning or night for anyone but even more so for her brother.

Today, grief and gratitude walk hand in hand. We mourn the loss of presence, the unspoken words, the future moments we wish could have been. But let us also remember gratitude-the gratitude for every day we had, for every lesson learned, for every kindness received. We are better, richer, and more complete for having known Katrina

Grief is the price of love, and though it pains us now, it is also a testament to the wonderful connection we shared. In time, tears will give way to smiles, and sorrow will soften into sweet remembrance. This is not an end, but a transformation. Katrina was a beautiful person inside and out always sharing and giving.

We will all miss the encouraging text messages:

"Good Morning Bucky"

"Beautiful"

"Good job Bub"

"I'm so proud of her"
