Larry Franklin Thompson, age 70, of Mount Vernon, Ky passed away on Tuesday, September 28,2021 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
He was born on February 19, 1951, the son of the late Lloyd Thompson, and the late Hazel Bradley Thompson. He served in the U.S Army for 4 years with 2 of those years in Germany.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. Living life to the fullest, he took great pride in his family, his home and making sure those around him knew they were loved. He was an avid gun collector and anything military inspired, enjoyed daily walks outside and loved to spend time with his family including his dog Pepper.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Thompson; a daughter, Allison Reynolds and Matt; son Eric Thompson and Heather; step-daughter Greta Tompkins and Larry; step-son Levi Northern and Chasity; step-son Matt Northern and Serena; Grandchildren: Maggie Reynolds, Ryan Thompson, Caden Thompson, Kaitlynn, Bentley and Finley Northern; Caleb, Devin, Ethan and Bailey Tompkins; Abigail and Mattaly Northern; one very special sister Nancy Sigmon; one very special brother Roger Thompson and Donna; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Hazel Thompson, his brothers Bill Thompson, Parkey Thompson, Gary Thompson, brother-in-law Billy Gene Sigmon and grand-daughter Amberly Northern.
Visitation for Larry Thompson will be Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 12pm until time for the funeral service at 2pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Josh Switzer officiating. Burial will follow in the Rimmel Cemetery. Casket bearers are Ryan Thompson, Eddie Hayes, Donnie Coffey, Thomas Wagner, Levi Northern, Matt Northern, Larry Tompkins, Caleb Tompkins, and Devin Tompkins.
