Lois M (Barnett) Bishop

Lois M. Bishop went to be with the Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 18th,2025, at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family. Lois was born on February 27th, 1940, to John and Virgie Barnett at her home in Brodhead, Kentucky. She married the love of her life, Richard A. Bishop on May 11th, 1957. Out of that marriage came 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Virgie Barnett, her daughter Lois Darlene Bishop, her three brothers, Eugene, Bob, and Benny Barnett, her sister Mary Burris, her son in law John Brock, and her beloved dog, Molly.

Lois is survived by her husband Richard A. Bishop, her four children, Brenda Brock, Donna Bishop(Phillip Payne), Johnny Bishop, and Tonya (David) Owens, and a special nephew Bobby (Michelle) Burris, her seven grandchildren; Zach Gentry, Kayla (Jason) Leger, Travis Brock, Brian Owens, Breanna Brock, Mary (Hunter) Isaacs, John (Courtney) Bishop Jr, five great grandchildren, Jacob Leger, Konnor Leger, Emma Leger, Westin Bishop, Paislee Isaacs, her sister Charlene Barnett, and a host of family and friends.

Lois was a loving and devoted wife of 68 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family who adored her greatly. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Lois loved the Lord and had followed him faithfully for over 70 years. She loved serving at church and working for the Lord. She loved to read her bible with her husband every morning. The prayer and bible reading that she was devoted to revealed the meek and gentle spirit that she lived by. She loved her family dearly and loved cooking and caring for them, and her amazing food will always be unmatched according to her family. She enjoyed and took pride in gardening and growing flowers, especially her beautiful roses. She also took pride in honoring our veterans by planning services dedicated to them with food and special recognition. Lois was a selfless servant who always worked to help others, especially always making time for her family. She is dearly loved by her friends and family.

Visitation for Lois will be Friday, November 21st, 2025, from 11am-1pm at Owens Chapel. Funeral service will follow starting at 1pm with Bros. Buford Parkerson and Tim Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Negro Creek Cemetery.

Casket bearers are; Zach Gentry, Travis Brock, Brian Owens, John Bishop Jr, Jacob Leger, and Konnor Leger.
