Lucy (Shoemaker) Hatmaker

Lucy (Shoemaker) Hatmaker, age 68, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY.

Lucy was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and church family. She enjoyed playing board games, (especially Yatzee), thrift shopping, going out to eat Chinese, fishing, and hosting family holiday meals. She was a member of New Life House of Worship in Crab Orchard, KY.

Those left to celebrate her life are her four children: William Shoemaker (Christina) on Lake Crystal, MN, Grace Shoemaker of Mt. Vernon, KY, Nina Lamb of Berea, KY, and Rayann Caldwell of Manchester, KY; nine grandchildren: Courtney Combs, Olivia Erwin, Tristan Winstead, Kaylee Shoemaker, Natalie Erwin, Miranda Shoemaker, Andrew Abner, Emily Down, and Jeffrey Alexander; four great-grandchildren: Audrey Elam, Gunner Combs, Adalynn Philbeck, and Everleigh Philbeck; three brothers:  Homer Ray Shoemaker (Bonnie) of Stanford, KY, Russell Shoemaker (Georgie) of Stanford, KY, and Eugene Shoemaker of Brodhead, KY; her mother: Winston (Hopkins) Kidwell, and two sisters:  Eliza Stevens of Brodhead, KY, and Lee Ann McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY.

Lucy was preceded in death by her father: Homer Shoemaker, and two children: Donald Ray Shoemaker and Billye Jo Shoemaker.

Services for Lucy Hatmaker will be Saturday, October 25, 2025, at New Life House of Worship in Crab Orchard, KY with Visitation beginning at 11am until time for the funeral service at 12pm with Bro. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Shoemaker-Allen Cemetery in Crab Orchard.
