Margie Claudette (Dees) Wilcop

Mrs. Margie Wilcop, age 82, of Brodhead, KY, wife of Johnny, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY.

Margie was born August 22, 1940, in Berea, KY to the late Claude and Mondell (Bussell) Dees. She taught music for the Rockcastle County Schools for 27 years, gave private voice and piano lessons, and was Director of Music at Brodhead Baptist Church for 40 years. She loved music, ballroom dancing, and entertaining. She married Johnny Wilcop on April 23, 1961, and from that union came two children:  Johnna Dell and Christopher Neal.

Those left to celebrate her life are her husband of nearly 62 years:  Johnny Wilcop; two children:  Johnna Dell Ward and husband James S. Ward II of Brodhead, KY, and Christopher Neal Wilcop of London, KY; two grandchildren:  Tyler Benton Ward, and James Micah Wilcop Ward; as well as a host of former students, friends, and neighbors.

Visitation for Margie will be Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral service will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 2pm at Brodhead Baptist Church with Bro. Ralph Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers are Jim, Tyler, and Micah Ward, Gary Dees, Keith Bussell. Honorary casket bearers are Bobby Dees and Brian Bussell.
