Martha (Abney) Morgan

OBITUARY NOTICE:

Martha A. “Phroonie” (Abney) Morgan, age 69, of Brodhead, Kentucky, passed away on September 10th, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on June 2nd, 1956, in Mt. Vernon, Ky, to the late Fred and Freda (Cameron) Abney. Martha lived a life defined by compassion, service, and devotion to those she loved.

A dedicated healthcare professional, Martha served as a Registered Nurse at Rockcastle Health and Rehab Center in Brodhead until her retirement. Her career was marked by a deep commitment to caring for others, a calling she fulfilled with grace and strength throughout the years.

Martha was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon; her faith was a guiding light in her life.

 She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Marty L. Morgan of Brodhead, her son, Jerry W. Adams II (Lori) of Brodhead, her stepdaughter, Capri Bullock (Jason) of Broughtentown. Martha was a proud grandmother of three grandsons; Jacob, Caleb, and Connor Adams, and three step-grandchildren; Kaylee Morgan, Xavier Bullock, and Eli Bullock.

Martha is also survived by her siblings; Donald Abney (Rebecca) of Livingston; Johnny Fred Abney of Ashland; Sherry Fuson of Mt. Vernon, Donald Fred Abney of Mt Vernon, Samantha Cook of Mt Vernon, and Blossom (Cameron) Bach of Georgetown, IN. She leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Ronald Abney; and sisters Laura Howard and Tracy Caudill.

Martha found great joy in spending time with “her boys”, cherishing every moment with her grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession into every aspect of her life; she gave freely of herself to care for others with warmth and unwavering love.

In accordance with her wishes, Martha will be cremated. A celebration of life memorial service will be Saturday, September 13th, 2025, with a gathering time for fellowship and remembrance beginning at 2pm and the Celebration of life service will begin promptly at 2:30pm at Freedom Baptist Church, 1806 Freedom School Rd, Mt Vernon, KY, 40456.
