Mary Thompson

Mrs. Mary Thompson, age 79 of Quail, KY departed this life on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital.

She was born on August 21, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, where she had previously been a Food Service Manager at Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island.   Mary found great joy in cooking, especially for others, gardening, and charity work.  She was a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ and a member of Quail Homemakers. She received the Humanitarian of the Year award for her work at Frank Olean Center.   On November 17, 2007, she was united in marriage to Clinton Thompson, and they enjoyed fifteen years together.

Those left to celebrate her life are her husband, Clinton Thompson of Quail, Ky; her daughter: Jennifer Thackeray of Rhode Island; stepchildren: Mark Thompson of Quail, KY, and Tammy Johnson of Lancaster, KY; her step-grandchildren: Casey (Alexis) Thompson, Dakota (Alexandra) Miracle, Leslie (Darrell) Wooten; her step great grandchildren: David Lee, Luther Miracle, Gracie Elmore, Silas, Lilith & Atlas Wooten and Holden Sandlin;  her brothers: John Matragrano (Connie) of Baton Rouge, LA; and Andrew Matragrano (Ellen) of Danville, Pennsylvania.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, and brother: Martin Matragrano.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, from 5-7PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
