Obituary

Mr. Michael Jay Sowder, age 70 of Brodhead, KY passed away Wednesday May 4, 2022, at his residence.

Michael was born December 3, 1951, in Kankakee, IL to the late EJ and Gladys (Bishop) Sowder. He was a member of the Brindle Ridge Baptist Church, and he enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions, woodworking, and restoring and fixing old things that others discarded, collecting brass, and wood drill/brace and bit. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a Kentucky Colonel.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 41 years:  Judy Ann Sowder; one son:  Jay Sowder and wife Debra of Mt. Vernon, KY; three grandchildren:  Ayla Woodson and husband Mike of AR, Sierra Sowder of Middlesboro, KY, Shelby Chesnut of Mt. Vernon, KY; two great-grandchildren:  Garrett David Sowder; Evelyn Ryan Sowder; one brother:  Tom Sowder of Eubank, KY; and two sisters:  Phyllis Curtis of PA, and Sally Leek and husband James of Waynesburg, KY.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son:  David Michael Sowder; one brother:  Tim Sowder; and two sisters:  Rebecca Countryman, and Sandra Ison.

Visitation for Michael will be Monday, May 9, 2022, from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 11am at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Ron Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY at 2:30pm.
