Nelson Hamilton

Nelson Hamilton, age 83, of Ottawa, Ky. died Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1941, in Fayette County, KY, the son of Clarence and Margaret (Martin) Hamilton.

He was a retired heavy machine operator and one of his most cherished memories was working on Kincaid Towers during the filming of the movie “Steel” starring Lee Majors. He was the proprietor of H&H Grocery in Woodford County and most recently the Renfro Valley Country Store. He enjoyed making a deal and sharing an ice cream with his family, local friends and visitors to Renfro Valley. On April 7th, 2001, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Brown Hamilton. 

He is survived by his wife:  Ruth Ann Hamilton; his children Trina, Carrie, Julie (Rick) Mullins, and Jason (Julia) Allen; his grandchildren Trae, Macy, Brennan, Jacob, Noah, Chelsey (Buttons), Luke (Duke), Blake (Bo) and Brooks; sisters Wanda Scott and Sue (Gary) Curd; and a very special friend who was like a brother Barry (Pat) Head.

He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Oleika Shrine Temple, The Scottish Ries of Freemasonary and the Buford-Landmark Lodge No.41.

Service Rites will be held at Higher Praise Ministries, 4896 Lake Cumberland Road, Mt Vernon, KY on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, 12-1PM for family, 1-3PM for public with funeral at 3PM. Burial will follow at Providence Church of Christ. Arrangements entrusted to Marvin E Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Ralph Baker officiating.
