Preston Holcomb

Mr. Preston Holcomb, age 80, husband of Charlotte, of Brodhead, passed away Saturday, September 29. 2018 at Baptist Health Lexington.

Preston was born in Berea, Ky, on August 8, 1938 to the late Sam Holcomb and the late Elizabeth Adams Holcomb. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Brown on April 2, 1960. He was a retired forklift mechanic from Trane Company in Lexington, KY where he worked for 32 years. Preston was a former president and coach of Rockcastle County Little League for several years. He was a member of Maretburg Baptist Church. He  enjoyed woodworking, drawing, watching sports of all kinds, and most importantly, playing with his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte; his children: David (Phyllis) Holcomb, Barb Holcomb, and Steve (Kimberly) Holcomb; his grandchildren: Sheena (John) King, Whitney (Jay) Cobb, Skylar (Larkan) Holcomb, Kelci (RC) Kirby, Kristin Holcomb, and Sydney Holcomb; his great-grandchildren: Seth King, Jade King, Logan Cobb, and Layla Cobb; one sister: Mildred Blevins, as well as a host of friend and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Preston was preceded in death two brothers: Samuel (Dallas), and Wallace Holcomb; and three sisters: Velva Proctor, Almeda Harris, and Verbeda Holcomb.

Services for Mr. Holcomb will begin with the visitation, Tuesday October 2nd, 2018 from 6-9pm. Funeral will be Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 at 2pm with Bro. Bufford Parkerson officiating. Both at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Mike Livesay, Matt Blevins, Jacob Holcomb, Marty Burton, Jeff Bradley, and Chuck Brown. Honorary casket bearers are Harold Harper, Charles Rader, Lyndon Smith, Herbert Ray Adams, and Hermon Smith.
