Raymond Verlon Hasty

Raymond Verlon Hasty, age 88, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.

Raymond was born in Mt. Vernon, KY, on January 12, 1934, a son of the late Ambrose and Nora (Sowder) Hasty. He and Ruth Stevens were united in holy matrimony on June 25, 1955, and of that union came three children: Ricky, Vickie, and Rodney. He was of the Christian faith, and often spent his free time building and playing musical instruments and hunting.

 Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 66 years: Ruth (Stevens) Hasty, of Mt. Vernon, KY; his three children: Ricky Hasty of Mt. Vernon, KY, Vickie Thomas of Berea, KY, and Rodney Hasty of Mt. Vernon, KY; five grandchildren: Natasha Hensley, Ashley Thomas, Reanna Pelfrey, Amber Legg, and Isaiah Thomas; four great-grandchildren: Taelor Cummins, Kaughner Hensley, and Ben and Brody Thomas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Clarance, Tully, Joe, Boyd, William, Charlie, and Louella Hasty, Bessie McClure, Dolly Cameron, and Eva Doan.

Services for Raymond will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, beginning with the visitation at 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm, with Pat Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery, with casket bearers: Nick Thomas, Daniel Legg, Ed Pelfrey, Kevin Hensley, and Jeff Hamblin.
