Ricky Dean Kirby

Ricky Dean Kirby opened his beautiful blue eyes for the first time on Feb. 9, 1959. He passed from this world suddenly of a massive heart attack at the age of 61, on November 20, 2020 at his family farm in Rockcastle County doing what he loved …farming and taking care of his cattle.  He was a hard-working man all his life.  He was hoeing the fields when he as only eight years old while most of us did not know what true hard work was that young.  He was never lazy a day of his life and in his sixties could out work people in their twenties.  He was a very kind-hearted and fun man who never saw anyone as a stranger and could talk to you for hours like he’s known you all his life .He never failed to make jokes, poke fun, and make you smile.  He always had a story to tell which would leave you laughing. He always provided for his family and made sure they were taken care of and would always lend a helping hand when you needed him. He enjoyed spending time with his family-and-friends, telling stories, watching wrestling, and loved animals.  Rick will be sorely missed by all his family and friends forever and for always.

Ricky is survived by his common law wife of 31 years, Phyllis Howell of Somerset, Ky. where Ricky also resided.  Also survived by his mother, Christine Kirby of Mt. Vernon, Ky; His son: Richard Lee Kirby of Mt. Vernon, KY., and daughter-in-law Casey.  His daughter: Tina Renee Kirby of Somerset, Ky., and son-in-law Donald Ray Brown.  His sister: Sheila Dykes of Mt. Vernon, Ky; his grandkids: Ryder and Kaylee Kirby of Mt. Vernon, Ky. His step-kids: Deanna Locke and Lil John Coleman.

He was preceded in death by all four of his grandparents: Rosa Blackburn Kirby, Burgess Kirby, Joe McClure, and Sybil McClure.  Also proceeded by his Daddy, William Dean Kirby.

May Ricky’s stories and memories forever live in our hearts…. we loved him to the moon and back. Sorely missed always.
