Mrs. Roberta Rose (Robbins) Brown, age 87, of Brodhead, KY departed this life on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at her home in Ottawa after a long illness. Roberta was born December 8, 1934 in Rockcastle County to the late Charlie Boone and Viola (Bullock) Robbins. She married Harold Brown on January 28, 1956. From this union were born five daughters: Wanda, Rita, Marcia, Katherine, and Teresa.
Roberta was a member of Ottawa Baptist Church. As long as she was able, she was an active member of the church, she especially enjoyed helping with the children. At home, caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the joy of her life. She also enjoyed cooking and reading.
Besides her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda E. Brown Braley, and siblings, Minnie Mae Petrey, Paul M. Robbins, James H. “Buster” Robbins, Irene Hodge, Kenneth Robbins, O. J. “Jack” Robbins, Josephine Oaks, Virginia Lail, and Helen Chesser.
Those left to celebrate her life are her husband of 65 years, Harold Brown, “the love of my life” as she loved to call him, daughters, Rita E. (Mark) Sampson, Marcia J. (James) Chism, Katherine I. (Rick) Hysinger, and Teresa Brown. One son-in-law: Hershel Braley. She was “Mamaw” to grandchildren, Kayce Sampson (Matthew) Hayes, Ashley Braley (Jeremiah) Rinker, Stephenie Sampson (Chad) Wellman, Amanda Chism (Alan) Briggs, Hannah Chism, Richard (Tiffany) Hysinger, Katelyn Blair (Matt) Tovar, and Jacob Blair, and great- grandchildren, Lilyann Storm, Lucas Hayes, Logan Rinker, Jon Thomas Rinker, Andrew Wellman, Whitney Wellman, Madison Hysinger, Raelynn Hysinger, Kaydence Stewart, and Hunter Hysinger. She is also survived by one sister, Francis Petrey of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, and two brothers, Billy Wayne Robbins of LaPorte, Indiana, and Jesse Robbins of Lewisburg, Ohio.
Services for Mrs. Roberta Brown will be held at Ottawa Baptist Church on Thursday, December 23, 2021. Visitation will be from 10:00 am till 12:00. Funeral services begin at 12:00 with Pastor John McPheron and Brother Michael Hail officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Cemetery.
