Mr. Roger Lee McGuire, age 68 of Mt. Vernon, KY, husband of Beverlee, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his residence.
Roger was born November 20, 1952 in Berea, KY to the late Arvil and Norma Jean (Brock) McGuire. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, worked as a facilities manager for Rockcastle Regional Hospital for 29 years, enjoyed UK Basketball, football, music, and TV. On September 3, 1998, Roger married Beverlee Lynne McClure, creating a family of six with Natasha, Matthew, Chris, and Cherie. Roger will be remembered as an exceptionally talented musician; traveling all over the nation as lead guitarist, singer, and song writer with bands: Joshua Cooley, Strait Shot, Spot-Check Billy, and Wild River.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 22 years: Beverlee McGuire; children: Natasha Poynter (Tommy), Matthew Brown McGuire, Chris McHargue, Cherie Walker; grandchildren: Destiny, Trent, Trace, Chance, Mia, Landon, Hayz, Case, Lathey; one brother: Gerald McGuire; and one special friend: “Chief” (Gary Asher).
Visitation for Roger will be Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 11am until time for the funeral service at 1pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Luther Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Cemetery. Casket bearers are Trace Abner, Donovan McGuire, Jerry Martin, Nathan Bullock, Jeff Todd, and Jonas Adams. Honorary casket bearers will be his former band members.
