Ronald Dean Cash

Ronnie Cash, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2023. Ronnie was born August 21, 1948, in Brodhead to the late William “Bill” and Lula Cash. Ronnie was a member of Brodhead Baptist Church. Ronnie never met a stranger and loved serving as greeter and van driver at church. 

He devoted his career to serving the children of Rockcastle County, first as teacher and later as principal. Besides being a Christian, Ronnie’s proudest accomplishments were being a dad to two daughters and Pa to two rambunctious grandsons. 

An avid traveler, Ronnie loved to visit the national parks and the Western United States. Nowhere on earth compared to Brodhead, as far as he was concerned. He served as both mayor of Brodhead and later city council member for many years and enjoyed volunteering at the Brodhead Fair.

Ronnie is survived by: his wife, Katreka; daughters Lura (Mark) Dyehouse and Rachael Cash of Brodhead; grandsons Yadon and Fowler Dyehouse;  brothers Bill (Doris) Cash of Brodhead, Charlie (Claudinna) Cash of Brodhead, and Don (Violet) Cash of Brodhead; sisters Betty (Ed) Lucksinger of South Mills, NC, Bonnie (Luther) Rose of Brodhead, Beverly (Danny) Simpson of Waynesburg, and Brenda (Johnny) Simpson of Brodhead; friend like a brother Eddie (Joyce) Delph of Brodhead; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Besides his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by infant sister Ruth Anna Cash; brothers Bobby “Bud” Cash and Billy Murphy Cash.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Delph, Johnny Boone Saylor, Tony Saylor, David Pensol, Bryan Bussell, and John McQueary.

Services will be held Saturday, February 18th at Brodhead Baptist Church with Bro. Ralph Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.
