Mr. Ronald Dean Rogers, age 83, of Hustonville, KY, formerly of Bee Lick, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville, KY.
Ronald was born June 16, 1938, in Wallin Creek in Harlan, KY to the late Otis and Nannie (Norton) Rogers. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963, stationed at Fort Hood, TX with the 1st Armored Division Artillery, and was ready to ship out the night before the Cuban Missile Crisis was settled. He was a faithful member of the Stanford Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for the last several years. Ronald and his wife Joyce owned and operated Roger’s Grocery in Bee Lick, KY for 13 years before working in construction and farming. Ronald enjoyed farming, fishing, was a master gardener, and an avid UK sports fan. He married Joyce Todd on December 25, 1965, and from that union came one daughter: Jill.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 56 years: Joyce Rogers; one daughter: Jill Kersey and Jimmy of Hustonville, KY; one grandson: Zachary Kersey and Ali; one great-grandson: Jameson Blake Kersey; and two sisters: Mary Roberts of Lebanon, OH, and Eva Sowders and Brent of Lebanon OH; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Charlie and Jim Rogers; and one sister: Treva Rogers.
Visitation for Ronald Rogers will be Friday, December 31, 2021, from 11:00am until time for the funeral service at 1:00pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Roy Hopkins and Daniel Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery.
