Roscoe Elwood Smith

Roscoe Elwood Smith, age 58, of Berea, KY passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Compassionate Care in Richmond.

Roscoe was born on September 8, 1963, in Mt. Vernon, KY, a son of the late William and Laura (McGuire) Smith. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 37 years: Dora (Jones) Smith of Berea, KY; six children: Melinda Thomas & Greg of Mt. Vernon, KY, Brandy Smith of Berea, KY, Crystal Smith & Chris of Mt. Vernon, KY, Dusty Smith & Misty of Mt. Vernon, KY, Billy Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Roscoe Smith of OH; 11 grandchildren: Michelle and Logan Thomas; Desiree, Dixie, Dalton, Jimmy, and Elizabeth Smith; and Chelsea, Caleb, and Shyann Blevins; a great-grandson: Oaklen Reed; two brothers: Frankie Smith & Shelia of Somerset, KY, and Chuck Smith & Cristy of Mt. Vernon, KY; three sisters: Melissa Bullock & Tony of Mt. Vernon, KY, April Harrison of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Trish Hibbard of Somerset, KY; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson: Devin Lee Smith.

Services for Roscoe will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals beginning with the visitation at 12pm, until the time of the funeral service at 2pm. Burial will follow in the Raspberry Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Dalton, Dusty, and Chris Smith, Greg and Logan Thomas, Layne Evans, Willie Madden, and Lucas Messer.
