OBITUARY NOTICE:
Mrs. Verla “Rose” Mink, age 69 of Brodhead, departed this life on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Lake Cumberland Medical Center in Somerset, Ky.
She was born on July 16, 1956 in Brodhead, Ky. a daughter of the late Robert and Zelma Whitaker Hayes. She was a homemaker, who played the piano at church, and found great joy in canning, cooking, weedeating and mowing the Cemetery, working in hay, farming, spending time with church family and friends. On July 4, 1975 she was united in marriage to James Lowell Mink and from that union came two children, James Kendall and Karen.
Those left to celebrate her life are her husband of 50 years, James Lowell Mink; her children: James Kendall Mink (Shawna) of Brodhead; and Karen Mink (Matthew) of Brodhead; her grandchildren: Jameson Mink, Kyndall-Shaye Mink, Landon Wooddell, and Natalie Wooddell. Her brothers: Donnie Hayes (Charlotte) of Brodhead; Ronnie Hayes (Lisa) of Brodhead; and Tommy Hayes of Brodhead. Her sisters: Darlene Carl (Butch) of Versailles; Jean Brock (Bobby) of Florence; Roberta Dyer of TENN; Sue Tracy (Steve) of Richmond, Ky; Jennifer Jackson (Jerry) of Nicholasville; and Sandy Bullen (Charles) of Brodhead; As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: Stevie Hayes, Liz Whitaker and Lois Gabbard; and an infant grandchild.
Pallbearers: Jameson Mink, Landon Woodell, Donnie Hayes, Josh Hayes, Charles Bullen, Keith Jasper, Jeff Hamm.
Honorary: Ronnie Hayes, Tom Hayes, Jerry Ham, Butch Carl Jerry Jackson, Steve Tracy, Charlie Mink, Bill Mink.
Visitation for Rose Mink will be Tues. August 12, 2025 from 5-8PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be conducted Wed. August 13, 2025 at 1PM at Owens Chapel with Bros. Bill Hammond and Richard West officiating; burial will follow at 2626 Wabd Jones Rd., Brodhead, Ky.
