Shelby Brian Reynolds

Bro. Shelby Brian Reynolds, aged 68, of Mount Vernon, KY departed this life on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. 

Shelby was born on October 25, 1954, in Brodhead, KY, the son of the late Oscar and Mildred Catherine (née Cummins) Reynolds. He was a long-tenured educator and minister of the Christian faith. In his role as a minister, Shelby served various communities and churches in Pulaski, Rockcastle, and Lincoln counties. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He took great joy in reading and studying, as well as his love for flowers, gardening, and tending to his birds. 

On April 10, 1982, he was united in marriage to Kathy Ann Pope and from that union came two children: Shelby Brian Reynolds II and Anna Katherine (née Reynolds) Light.

Shelby is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy Ann (née Pope) Reynolds; his children, Brian (Meredith) Reynolds of Lexington, KY and Anna (David) Light of Mount Vernon, KY; his grandchildren, Katherine Shelby Light and John David Warren Light and forthcoming Anne Claire Shelby Light; his brother, Karl David (Marlene) Reynolds of Somerset, KY; his sisters, Nina Kay Stallings and Linda Pearl (Bobby) Price, both of Somerset, KY, Margie Mae Reynolds of Eubank, KY, and Kathy Ann Nantz of Walton, KY. Shelby is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors that he loved very dearly. 

In addition to his parents, Shelby was preceded in death by a grandson, Jack Warren Light; brothers, Bobby Lee, Orville Dean, Oscar, Jr., and Danny Clayton Reynolds; and sister, Ruby Faye Ridner.
