Shirley McClure

Mr. John “Shirley” McClure, age 84, of Sand Springs KY, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at his residence.

Shirley was born on August 16, 1935 in Sand Springs, KY to the late Johnny and Fannie (Vance) McClure.  He worked for the KY State Highway Department for 30 years, was a member of the Blue Springs Church of Christ, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and farming, and spending time with his family. 

Those left to celebrate his life are his children:  Dean (Debbie) McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY; Charlotte McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY, Gloria Day of Mt. Vernon, KY, Sheila McClure, of Mt. Vernon, KY, and a step-son:  Jamie McClure; seven grandchildren:  Stephanie (Gary) Robbins, Angela Day of Brodhead, KY, Natasha McClure of Stanford, KY, Charles (Morgan) Day of Crab Orchard, KY, Shane McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY, Briana McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY, Hunter McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Dominic McClure of Brodhead, KY; twelve great-grandchildren:  Lacey & Sarah Robinson, Abby and Gracey Day, Madison Morgan, Kaylee Collins, Morgan, Makenzie, and Kyra Crain, Charlie, Layken, and Tatum Day; two brothers:  Zade McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Delno (Linda) McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife:  Connie (Hays) McClure; his brothers:  Sherman McClure; his sisters:  Rose Mary McClure, Etta McClure Evans, Bertie McClure Fish, Bernice McClure Rice, Freda McClure Phelps.

Visitation for John “Shirley” McClure will be Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 6-9pm and Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 10am – 1pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Bro. Marcus Reppert officiating.  Burial will follow in the High Dry Cemetery.
