Velma Louise Ping, age 90, of Somerset, Ky, departed this life on Friday, May 29th, 2026. Velma was born on July 12th, 1935, in Somerset, Kentucky. A daughter to the late Charles and Dovie (Major) McClure. On January 10th, 1955, she married Robert Dean Ping (2003) and from that union came six children; Valerie, Susan, Judy, Rhonda, Cathy, and Robbie.
Velma was a Christian and a member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ. Velma enjoyed Sewing, Quilting, Flowers, all kinds of Puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a homemaker who retired from Palm Beach Manufacturing.
Velma is survived by her children; Judy Bruner( Fiancé David Thompson) of Somerset, Rhonda Grigsby (Dave) of Somerset, Cathy Campbell (Scott) of Eubank, Robbie Ping of Somerset, several grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her brother: Charles Ray McClure, her sisters: Ruth Ray, Betty Stevens, Mary Helen Bullock. As well as host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her: Children; Valerie Shirley (Charles), Susan Dempsey (Bimbo). Grandchild: William Ray Ping, sister; Glenna Burdine
Visitation for Velma will be Thursday, June 4th, 2026, from 12-2 pm at Owens Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Marvin Cromer officiating. Burial will follow in Ping Family Cemetery.
