Vernon L Doan

Vernon Leon Doan, age 85, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away on Sunday, January 15th, 2023, at his home.

Vernon was born on May 17th, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, KY, a son of the late Walker and Eva (Hasty) Doan. He was united in holy matrimony to Charlotte Lawson on November 11th, 1960, and of that marriage came 6 children: Dennis, Dalmas, Vernon Jr, Tina, Debbie, and Michael. He was a former pastor and preacher of Calloway Holiness Church. In his free time loved ginseng and mushroom hunting and playing guitar.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of 62 years Charlotte (Lawson) Doan of Mt. Vernon, KY; five children: Dennis Doan & Donna of Mt. Vernon, KY, Dalams Doan & Vickie of Livingston, KY, Vernon Doan, Jr. & Denise of Livingston, KY, Tina Doan of Livingston, KY, and Debbie Doan & Larry of Mt. Vernon, KY; 12 grandchildren: Amber Doan, LeAnn Doan, Deanna Doan, Josh Sowder, Heavenly Sowder, Scotty Hellard, Martha McKinney, Adam Hellard, Joseph Doan, Lula Scarborough, Kayla Doan & Kevin Mink; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; a brother: Dallas Doan & Beverly of IN; a sister: Glenna Bell & James of Monticello, KY; a sister-in-law Mary Doan of Livingston; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Michael Doan; two grandchildren: Jason Wheeler and Randy Alexander Denny; a great-grandchild: Katina Bond; and nine siblings: Elzie, Ray, Darrell, and Loretta Doan, Alma Hines, Alene Brown, Elsie McClure, Tessie Allen, and Sadie Hylander.

All services for Vernon will be held at Calloway Holiness Church. Visitation will be on Friday, January 20th, 2023, from 6pm to 9pm. Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 21st, 2023, at 1pm, with Phillip Doan officiating. Burial will follow in the Doan Family Cemetery.
