Virgil Lee Brock

Virgil Lee Brock, age 81, of Slaty Branch, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation, Brodhead, Ky. after a long illness.

Virgil was born on May 2, 1942, at Copper Creek to loving parents, Mose Bradley and Verla Brummett Brock.  He was a lifelong farmer.  He loved to visit family and friends, various churches, discuss the Bible, and had a sweet tooth for chocolate.

Virgil is survived by three sisters and three brothers:  Evelyn Hilton Abbott of Berea; Francene Brock Ledford of Crab Orchard; Lavena Faye (Gary ) Gregory of Indianapolis, IN; Proctor Brock of Copper Creek; Mose (Naomi) Brock of Kings Mountain; Dallas (Ruby) Brock of Copper Creek;  He is also survived by a large host of nieces and nephews: Joyce Sulfridge, Betty Petrey, Darlene Brenda, Judy Baker,  Jackie Proctor, Beverly Brock, Verlie Gregory and Lisa Gregory. A special friend, Faye Burns (Caregiver).

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Mose Bradley and Verla Mae, baby sisters, Matilda and Corine, nephew, James Avery Ledford, and infant nieces Benita and Renita Brock.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, from 5-8PM at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.  The funeral will be on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 1PM at the funeral home with Bro. Randal Adams and Bro. Ralph Baker officiating.  The burial will be at Negro Creek Cemetery, Brodhead, Ky.

Virgil pallbearers will be his nephews and honorary pallbearers.  Dale Brock, Roger Brock, Charles Ledford, Gary Ledford, Doug Ledford, Kenny Brock, Derek Brock, Jimmy Brock, Tim Brock, and Gabriel Gregory.
