Wanda L Burton

Mrs. Wanda Burton, age 87, of Brodhead, passed away Tuesday, May 30th at the Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation in Danville, Kentucky with family by her side.

She was born on December 20, 1935 to the late Jim and Rebecca York Burdette.  On December 22nd, 1951 she was united in Holy Matrimony to her loving husband Harris Burton and from that union came two children, Stan & Kenny. Mr. & Mrs. Burton had enjoyed 65 years together before Harris passed away in August of 2017. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many. She worked at Dresser in Berea for many years, loved cooking, writing poetry, and attending church. Wanda was of the Baptist faith and attended services at Central Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.

Those left to celebrate her life are: her children Stan (Sherrie) Burton of Ohio & Kenny (Brenda) Burton of Lancaster, Kentucky; her grandchildren Penny (Doug) Nichols of Huntsville, Alabama, Erik (Kim) Burton of Universal City, Texas, and Travis (Lindsay) Burton of Lancaster, Kentucky; several great-grandchildren including Trey, Raylyn, & Adrian; her brother Amos (Pearl); her sister-in-law Mattie (Danny) Petrey of Somerset, KY; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides Harris and her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by six brothers: Ullis, Walter, L.C., Arvil, Owen, and Tommy Burdette; and two sisters: Margie Cummins and Ada Coffey.
