William Lykins Obituary

Mr. William Lykins, age 72 of Brodhead, Ky. passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Baptist Health, Lexington, Ky.

He was born on October 26, 1945 in Berea, Ky; a son of Luther G. Lykins and the late LaVerne Bussell Lykins.  Bill had been CEO for numerous Community Banks in Illinois. He was an Air Force Veteran that served in Vietnam,  an  adjunct professor at Eastern Kentucky University, and attended Northern Kentucky Chase College of Law. He was a Director of Community Bankers Association of Illinois, President, Director and Developer of the Raymond Shoal Creek Golf Course and member of Lion’s Club and Kiwanis.  He found great joy in woodworking, sports and music.  On April 9, 1966 he was united in marriage to Carol Trost and from that union came four sons: Nicholas, Justin Bo, Ryan and Douglas Wm. Lykins.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife of 52 years, Carol Lykins of Brodhead, Ky; his father: Luther G. Lykins of Brodhead, KY; his son: Nicholas R. Lykins (Alicia) of St. Charles, Illinois, Justin Bo Lykins of Brodhead, KY; and Ryan M. Lykins (Cassandra) of Lexington, Ky. His grandchildren: Victoria “Torie” Scott, Seth “Brodie” Lykins, Reina Lykins, Austin Lykins, Olivia Lykins, Wyatt Lykins, Jaidyn Lykins and Ryder Lykins. His great grandchildren: Kylie and Jozie Scott. As well; as a host of cousins, friends and neighbors.  

Besides his mother, LaVene Lykins, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas William Lykins.

Visitation for Mr. William Lykins will be Friday, April 13th, 2018 from 6-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 14th, 2018 at 10AM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel.   Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.
