William Albert Payne

Mr. William Albert Payne, age 91, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026, at Stanford Crossing in Stanford, KY.

Albert was born September 10, 1934, in Wabd, KY to the late William Andrew and Lucy Frances (Cummins) Payne. He was a salesman for Moorman Feed and a farmer. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, and he enjoyed sports, especially golf, card games, and small game hunting.

Those left to celebrate his life are grandchildren: Trisha Gillespie Douglas (Wes) of Stanford, and Patrick Gillespie (Savannah) of Perryville; great-grandchildren: Claudia Douglas, Ian Gillespie, and Elias Gillespie; one brother: Morgan Payne (Connie) of Thorn Hill, TN;  a son-in-law: David Gillespie; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Kathleen Sanders Payne, one daughter: Patricia Ann Payne Gillespie; and five siblings: Dale Payne, Norma Stewart, Loretta Parr, Andrew Payne, and Benny Payne.

Visitation and funeral for William Albert Payne will be Sunday, June 28 from 2-4 pm at Marvin E Owens Chapel with Bro. Todd Martin officiating. Private Graveside service at later date at Freedom Cemetery.
