GARY MICHAEL SMITH

OBITUARY NOTICE:

Mr. Gary Michael Smith, age 68, husband of Brenda, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital.

He was born on September 23, 1947 in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Alpha and Cloia Wilson Smith.  On September 6, 1968 Gary was united in matrimony to Brenda Middleton. He was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. Gary was the owner/operator of the Renfro Valley Lodge and half owner in Renfro Valley Inc. for over 26 years. He drove a bus for Christian Appalachian Project for twelve years as Mr. Gary to the Parents & Kids.  He was a member of Pine Hill Holiness Church, and the local V.F.W. Club. Gary proudly served his country as a Sargeant in the US Armed Forces, receiving three bronze stars during the Vietnam Era.   He found great enjoyment in riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, going to church & working outside.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of forty-seven years, Brenda Middleton Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY; his children: Glenn Alpha Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY.; and Cloia Geneva (Darrell) Collins of Brodhead, KY.; his grandchildren: Savanah Glenn Smith and Shane Allen Smith, As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Allen “Skippy” Smith and infant twin brothers, Larry & Jerry Smith.

Visitation for Mr. Gary Smith will be Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 6-9PM at Pine Hill Holiness Church.   Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 6, 2016 at 1PM with Bro. Randy Chrisman and Bro. Jason  Elam officiating. Burial  with military rites will follow in Cresthaven Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Dale Winsted, Perry Mink, Tony Hopkins, Stephen Smith, Rob Stewart and Jimmy Dale Mulcahy.
